Project

“In the first week of the war, almost a million Ukrainians left their country, their homes, their loved ones. We felt the need to document this exodus, this humanitarian disaster.

We traveled to Slovakia, following the Ukrainian border to the last Polish frontier, and then back to Hungary.

We spent a week alongside the refugees along the border.”

Lara Pierini takes us on a personal journey in four appointments through her photography.
Her images, rooted in travels, rave parties and nomadic communities, convey an idea of intimacy linked to ephemeral contexts. Through her selection, Pierini moves us from Bologna to Piedmont via Colombia, offering us a privileged point of view on her research and on her desires projected within temporary communities.
Here each photo turns out to be a snapshot of a fleeting story of which Pierini is a witness, a lens capable of revealing the beauty and complexity of human connections.
